The University of Central Arkansas will continue its artist-in-residence program with the Ivalas Quartet Thursday, Oct. 7 and Friday, Oct. 8, 2021. Events are free and open to the public.
Thursday events include a presentation of “The Power of Voice” at the amphitheater from 1:40-2:30 p.m. They will host a string quartet masterclass from 3-5 p.m., a solo instrument masterclass from 7-8:30 p.m., and a discussion from 8:45-9:30 p.m. These events are in the Snow Fine Arts Recital Hall. In addition, the Ivalas Quartet will visit Conway High School to present a private performance for students.
“Since 2009, the UCA artists-in-residence program has brought eight world-class string quartets to campus to work with our students,” said Gayle Seymour, associate dean of the UCA College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. “We expect the Ivalas Quartet, known for performing the music of BIPOC composers, will inspire our students to seek out new music and explore diverse perspectives.”
The Ivalas Quartet will have a public concert Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Performance Hall.
