The Ivalas Quartet has been named the Ernst String Quartet-in-Residence at Caramoor for the season of 2022-2023. The quartet concludes their yearlong residency filled with community involvement and concerts by delivering a performance in Caramoor's Spanish Courtyard.
Renowned as one of the most promising string quartets today, the Ivalas Quartet is devoted to embracing diverse perspectives and highlighting the works of Black and indigenous composers. Their multifaceted program features a world premiere composition by Derrick Skye, a composer of Ghanian, Nigerian, Native American, and British/Irish heritage, who firmly believes that music provides a gateway to appreciating other cultures.
